Artist & Repertoire
Essentially it is everything you need to do as an independent artist to build, promote, and enhance your music career. There was a time when major record labels sunk tons of money into an artist to develop their music, and image. In today's world you'll be hard-pressed to find a major label willing to do this. The music industry environment has changed dramatically. Labels ... what's left of them, put their focus and finances on product development and record sales. The overall scope of getting signed to a major label has changed. Today, when a label considers signing a new act, they are looking for artists that already have a solid independent foundation, a story, and the songs and image necessary to make it to the top. They also look for artists who have a proven track record of significant independent record sales either through a self release or through an independent label. They want artists that tour extensively and already have a large fan base.
Doesn't seem fair, does it. You may ask yourself ....how in the world are we going to accomplish all that with little or no money or connections?

Radio Promotions
In today's modern media world it can be really tough to get your song played on the radio. Radio consolidation, with a few large companies owning a large majority of all commercial radio stations, has made it even harder for new artists to get airplay. Still, it's not impossible. What's the best way to get your song added to a radio station play-list or at the very list taken for a spin? Here's our general plan and approach.
-
- Record at least 3 songs that are airplay quality.
- Decide on which genre the songs best fit.
- Establish a radio station/program director list.
- Upload music to a digital service.
- Send a physical copy of the song(s) to each radio station.
- Promote the song via one of two methods.
- Hire a Radio Promotions company
- Perform promotions in-house
- Run promotions campaign for at least 16 weeks.
- Evaluate the success

.Radio airplay is still the best method to make fans aware of piece of music. Although it may one day change to all digital and social media , today you must have songs appear on the major charts (billboard, etc.).

Publishing
A music publisher (or publishing company) is responsible for ensuring the songwriters and composers receive payment when their compositions are used commercially. Through an agreement called a publishing contract, a songwriter or composer "assigns" the copyright of their composition to a publishing company. In return, the company licenses compositions, helps monitor where compositions are used, collects royalties and distributes them to the composers. They also secure commissions for music and promote existing compositions to recording artists, film and television.
The copyrights owned and administered by publishing companies are one of the most important forms of intellectual property in the music industry. (The other is the copyright on a master recording which is typically owned by a recording company.) Publishing companies play a central role in managing this vital asset.

Booking
BMR works closely with booking agencies.
Our goal is to provide the opportunity and guidance that will steer you to the right national booking relationships. BMR does, however, create and book shows around the country.
Here are two examples.
1. A concert would be hosted by BMR at the Superdome in New Orleans. BMR would either use one of their own artists as a headliner or would contact a booking agency to provide the head talent. BMR would then utilze their own artsts as open acts.
2. BMR would seek booking agencies to utilize one of their artist for Colleges, Corporate, Fairs & Festivals and Music Halls. This allow BMR artists the best of all worlds. Without Live Bookings, an artist business will not survive.
